CASE STUDY
Learn how a group of health systems and academic institutions leveraged technology to help confront the industry’s critical nursing shortage.
Challenges
- Many states have been struggling to address a critical deficit of nursing staff.
- Health systems have a limited number of placement opportunities – with school rotation coordinators often working across multiple different systems to place students in available clinical settings.
- Given the competition for placement and the number of nurses leaving the workforce, connecting nursing students to opportunities has become increasingly difficult.
Approach
- More than 65 clinical sites and 21 educational partners in Minnesota are now using Student Management, Clinician Nexus’ innovative cloud-based software, to foster greater collaboration between clinical sites, nursing students, and schools to streamline the placement management process.
- Member organizations utilize the platform to leverage data-driven insights and support key statewide nursing pipeline initiatives.
Outcomes
- Students can connect with hundreds of clinical sites for placements across the U.S. and complete related onboarding, scheduling, and evaluations online.
- Clinical partners can advertise clinical placements to our 143,500+ student members to help identify potential candidates for employment.
